Coception: Reimagining the offshoring model with a compelling brand identity

Adrian Roshan’s career has seen him oversee numerous outsourcing and offshoring initiatives as both a service provider and customer.

Reflecting on his time in the corporate world, it was the team-building aspect of his roles that Adrian found the most rewarding. This is what led him to establish Coception – a boutique human resources company based in Melbourne that helps Australian businesses build a hybrid offshore-onshore delivery model with capable, qualified people who are the right fit for both team and task.

“I’ve always focused on the people side of things and ensuring continuity across teams. In my experience, that’s one of the key success factors in offshoring but it doesn’t typically exist with the traditional model,” Adrian says.

“Coception came about as a tailored model that allows organisations to take advantage of the cost savings of offshoring without having to deal with the contractual or commercial complexities or cultural issues. We don’t look at offshoring as amalgamating two separate teams but rather as extending the onshore team while offering support with onboarding and ongoing performance.”

From conception to Coception

With a vision to transform the traditional offshoring model, Adrian’s first challenge was to build a unique online presence that fit the bill. That’s when he reached out to Little Village Creative.

“I was referred to LVC by another client who said ‘These guys know their stuff’,” Adrian explains. “The team worked with me to understand the vision for the business and the target audience. A lot of the questions they asked were quite constructive because they helped me clarify things I maybe hadn’t thought about. It was a collaborative process but at the same time it was instructive in helping figure out what we needed to focus on and how to go about it.”

Following our initial workshop sessions, the LVC team was tasked with developing compelling brand positioning, a visual identity and website.

“They took the information from our meetings and reiterated it back to me to make sure we were all on the same page, then we went from there,” Adrian shares. “If you’re building a business website from scratch, there are a lot of components to work through and you need someone to help ensure what you’re conveying is relevant and coherent. LVC was a big help with that.”

Adrian says the support he received from the LVC team helped bring his ambitious business vision to life.

“At the end of the day I’m not a subject matter expert when it comes to branding and you need people like LVC to help you clarify the merits of different approaches,” he shares. “They took the time to understand Coception and what we stand for to create a brand that aligns with our business.”

As for what’s next, Adrian is working closely with clients to help them get the most out of Coception’s evolving service offering.

“In terms of what the future holds, that very much depends on the needs of our clients,” he says. “We’re staying flexible and look forward to building on the services that provide the most value.”
